Hole is mine beginner guide
First hour checklist

Your first session in Hole Is Mine is about getting comfortable with the rhythm: launch Mini'Ohs, watch them mine, and start growing your Village. You do not need to optimize everything in hour one, but these steps set you up for a smoother start.
- Launch your first Mini'Oh into the Hole and break blocks until you collect your first worms.
- Open your first loot box to trigger Looting Time! and see what equipment can drop.
- Rescue the first Mini'Oh you find to earn Hi, my name is... and increase your mining crew.
- Pick up any Head equipment you find for the Safety comes first achievement.
- Use an item from your inventory a few times to unlock Dispenser machine.
- Work toward completing the first Cave for the Deep achievement.
Do not stress about long-term builds yet. The game is playable at your own pace with no timed input, so you can pause, explore, and save anytime. If you play on Steam, your progress syncs through Steam Cloud.
Core loops: launching Mini'Ohs and purifying the Hole
Hole Is Mine revolves around a simple loop: dive inside the Hole, launch your Mini'Ohs to mine, and use what they collect to purify the Hole. Your Mini'Ohs do the heavy lifting while you manage throws, items, and upgrades.
- Launch Mini'Ohs into the Hole to break blocks and gather resources. Each throw counts, and you will hit milestones at 88,777, and 1666 throws.
- Extract impurities from the Hole. This is your main progression goal and ties directly to upgrading your power.
- Collect loot from boxes for equipment and materials. Equipment slots include Head,Back,Tool,Mask,Hair, and Costume.
- Rescue Mini'Ohs to grow your Village. Key rescues unlock new shops: the Butcher unlocks the Forge, the Sailor unlocks the Sea Shop, and the Builder unlocks the Mushroom Shop.
Your main loop feeds into itself: more Mini'Ohs means more mining, which means more worms and loot, which lets you purify deeper and find more secrets. Do not forget to use items actively; you will unlock achievements for using items 5,66, and 222 times.
Early mistakes to avoid
New players often stall because they ignore one part of the loop. Keep these pitfalls in mind during your first sessions.
- Ignoring equipment: Equip every slot you can. Equipping all slots on one Mini'Oh gives you The Mini'Oh wears Prad'Ah and makes your crew noticeably stronger.
- Skipping rescues: Rescue Mini'Ohs as soon as you can. They unlock shops and are required for later progress, including Rescue 8 Mini'Ohs and rescuing all of them.
- Hoarding items: Items are meant to be used. The Dispenser machine,Supermarket, and Shopping Mallachievements are all tied to item usage.
- Forgetting to save: You can save anytime, so make it a habit before trying risky deep runs or new Cave sections.
Stuck on a specific block or Cave? Try upgrading your power before you keep throwing. A small power bump often breaks the wall that is blocking your next rescue or secret.
Also, do not panic when you get stunned. It happens on purpose, and the Auch! achievement just needs you to take one stun, so treat it as a badge of experience.
What to do next: upgrades, rescues, and hidden secrets
Once the loop clicks, your goals expand. Use the achievement list as a roadmap for what matters most in the mid-game.
- Upgrade your power to destroy more blocks:Groundbreaker at 100 blocks,Stonecrusher at 2000, and Blockbuster at 8500.
- Rescue every Mini'Oh in the Village. You will also unlock the Cloning mechanic, with the Episode II achievement requiring 333 clones.
- Complete all four Caves:Deep,Deeper,Deepest, and Hyper Deepest. Each Cave is a major progression checkpoint.
- Collect every equipment type for the Full closet achievement, and chase the hidden secrets mentioned throughout the game to grow your Village and customize your Mini'Ohs.
The final push is about completion. Getting all 38 achievements is the The Great Oh goal, and it will require everything: rescues, Caves, equipment, cloning, and hundreds of thousands of worms. Take it at your own pace, save often, and let the Hole guide you.
