Town basics

The Village is the hub of Hole Is Mine, the place where your rescued Mini'Ohs settle, your shops open, and your mining runs begin. The core loop is simple: dive into the divine Hole, launch Mini'Ohs to mine, extract impurities, and bring resources back to grow the town. The Village is not just a backdrop, it is the progress screen of the whole run, and nearly every major milestone is tied to who lives there.

  • Mini'Ohs are your workforce. The town gets stronger as you rescue them, with key milestones at 1 Mini'Oh,8 Mini'Ohs, and a full roster for the finale.
  • The ultimate town goal is to free the Village. The "Don't be a Hole" achievement is earned when the Village is free and all your Mini'Ohs love you.
  • Hole Is Mine is a single-player game with Save Anytime, so you can pause town management mid-session without losing a step.

Everything you do inside the Hole feeds the Village: blocks you destroy, items you use, and Mini'Ohs you rescue all create new options back at the hub. If you ignore the town side, your mining power will stall.

Treat every new shop as a progression unlock, not a decoration. When a rescue adds a shop, check it before your next dive.

Upgrades and progression

Upgrades arrive quickly, and your very first one triggers the "Kachin!" achievement. From there, town progression is driven by rescuing key characters who open new services in the Village.

  • Rescue the Butcher to unlock the Forge.
  • Rescue the Sailor to unlock the Sea Shop.
  • Rescue the Builder to unlock the Mushroom Shop.

Equipment is the main way to power up your Mini'Ohs. There are six equipment types to collect:Head,Back,Tool,Mask,Costume, and Hair. Each type has its own first-equip achievement, and equipping all slots on one Mini'Oh earns the "The Mini'Oh wears Prad'Ah" achievement.

Do not let items sit unused. Using items is tracked at 5,66, and 222 uses, and cloning is tracked at 333 times. These numbers are effectively town chores: build the habit early and the achievements come on their own.

Hole Is Mine is an incremental adventure about purifying a divine Hole. Dive inside and launch your Mini'Ohs to mine for you.

Layout tips

Because the Village is a physical hub, how you move through it matters. Small routing habits will save you time across dozens of dives.

  • Keep the Hole entrance and your launch point in a straight line from the shops you visit most. Less walking means faster loop between mining and upgrading.
  • Group the Forge,Sea Shop, and Mushroom Shop by how often you actually use them. If you upgrade equipment constantly, the Forge deserves the most central spot.
  • Use one dedicated customization area for all loadout swaps. Change Head, Back, Tool, Mask, and Hair in one place instead of visiting separate zones.

Rescue order shapes your early town layout. The Butcher, Sailor, and Builder each bring a shop, so guide your exploration toward the next unlock instead of grinding in one area.

Use the achievement list as a town-building checklist. If you are missing a shop, a slot type, or a usage milestone, the achievement text tells you exactly which rescue or action to chase next.

Common mistakes

Most town-building slowdowns in Hole Is Mine come from a few easily avoidable habits.

  • Ignoring empty equipment slots. Leaving a slot empty on a Mini'Oh wastes potential. Collect every type for the "Full closet" achievement.
  • Hoarding items. The item use achievements at 5, 66, and 222 are a clear signal: the game wants you to spend consumables, not stockpile them.
  • Skipping Mini'Oh rescues. A town without new residents stops growing. You need 8 Mini'Ohs for "The more the merrier" and the full roster for the Village's endgame.
  • Ignoring worms. Worms are a resource you accumulate constantly, with big milestones at 100, 10,000, and 250,000. Check your worm income if upgrades feel slow.
  • Not using Save Anytime. Since you can save at any moment, there is no reason to lose town progress to a bad dive.

The Village is the reward for everything you do inside the Hole. Keep the shops fed, the Mini'Ohs equipped, and the rescue list moving, and the town will carry your progression for the whole game.
