Hole is mine tips and tricks
General tips for starting out

Hole Is Mine is a single-player incremental adventure about purifying a divine Hole, and the game welcomes you at your own pace. You dive in, launch your Mini'Ohs, and let them mine while you manage upgrades and exploration. Since the game supports Save Anytime and Steam Cloud, you can experiment freely without losing progress.
The Hole has spoken!
- Grab your first upgrade as soon as it is offered. The Kachin! achievement unlocks with your first upgrade and confirms you are on the right track.
- Open your first loot box early.Looting Time! triggers on your first piece of loot, and early gear makes the first digs noticeably faster.
- Do not hoard resources at the start. Spending on power upgrades speeds up block destruction, which feeds every other system in the game.
- There is no timed input and no multiplayer pressure, so play in short bursts or long sessions. Use Save Anytime when you need to step away mid-dive.
Treat the first hour as a setup phase. Everything you destroy and collect feeds the same loop: extract impurities, upgrade your power, and grow the Village.
Mining and exploration tips
Mining is the heart of the game, and block destruction is tracked with long-term milestones. The early targets are small, so consistent digging pays off quickly.
- Break 100 blocks for Groundbreaker, push to 2000 blocks for Stonecrusher, and keep going to 8500 blocks for Blockbuster. Let your Mini'Ohs keep working while you explore new paths.
- Extract impurities as you dig. Purifying the Hole is the main objective, and impurity extraction is what opens up deeper areas.
- Complete the four caves in order:Deep,Deeper,Deepest, and Hyper Deepest. Each cave is a difficulty step, so upgrade between attempts instead of banging your head on the same wall.
- Watch for hazards that can stun you. The Auch! achievement fires the first time you get stunned; it will happen during normal play, so do not force it.
- Search every cave for hidden secrets. The game hides secrets inside the Hole, often behind breakable walls or off the main mining path.
Use Save Anytime before entering a new cave or a stun-heavy area. If a run goes badly, reload and approach with a cleaner route instead of burning resources.
Economy, upgrades, and progression tips
The economy is simple, but it rewards planning. Worms, item usage, cloning, and shop unlocks all feed into how fast you can dig.
- Collect worms as a steady resource. Milestones track at 100 worms,10,000 worms, and 250,000 worms for the Worm,Caterpillar, and Butterflyachievements.
- Use items regularly. Item use milestones sit at 5 uses(Dispenser machine),66 uses(Supermarket), and 222 uses(Shopping Mall). Use consumables when they help, instead of saving them forever.
- Clone early and often.Episode II requires 333 clones, so start cloning Mini'Ohs as soon as the option appears.
- Rescue special Mini'Ohs to unlock shops: the Butcher unlocks the Forge, the Sailor unlocks the Sea Shop, and the Builder unlocks the Mushroom Shop. Prioritize these rescues when they become available.
- Upgrade power whenever block breaking slows down. A stronger throw and faster Mini'Oh mining beat grinding out one extra block at a time.
Equipment comes in several slots, including Head,Back,Tool,Mask,Hair, and Tentacle. The first drop in each slot grants an achievement, so check your loadout after every shop unlock.
Mini'Oh rescue and customization tips
Your Mini'Ohs do the heavy lifting, so rescuing and customizing them is the fastest way to multiply your mining output. The first rescue triggers Hi, my name is..., and the roster grows from there.
- Rescue 8 Mini'Ohs for The more the merrier, then push for the full team with Now this is a Team.
- Equip every slot on one Mini'Oh to trigger The Mini'Oh wears Prad'Ah. This is a strong mid-game target once the shops start providing full gear sets.
- Activate a Costume as soon as you own one.You look wonderful! only needs the first activation, and costumes make your team easier to read while mining.
- Work toward Full closet by collecting every equipment type. Shop unlocks matter more than raw farming for this one.
Do not funnel every piece of gear into one Mini'Oh. Spread equipment across your active team so each one contributes, and you will clear blocks faster than with a single overgeared carry.
Achievement-focused tips
There are 38 achievements total, and most fall into three groups: cumulative milestones, rescue and shop unlocks, and equipment collection. The capstone is The Great Oh, which requires every other achievement, so treat it as a long-term checklist.
- Throwing is pure volume:88 throws for Lance,777 throws for Neil, and 1666 throws for Louis. Keep throwing between upgrades; the totals stack faster than you expect.
- Block milestones (Groundbreaker,Stonecrusher,Blockbuster) and worm milestones (Worm,Caterpillar,Butterfly) accrue passively. Check the Stats page to see where each counter stands.
- Use Steam Stats to plan sessions. If you are close to a throw, item, or block threshold, a short active session can bank several achievements at once.
- Do not chase Auch! on purpose. Stuns happen often enough in later caves that the achievement arrives naturally.
- When the Village is free and your Mini'Ohs are all rescued,Don't be a Hole closes out the rescue line, leaving only the grind-based checklist before The Great Oh.
