Hole is mine builds guide
Build basics

A build in Hole Is Mine is how you equip each Mini'Oh and decide which ones you send into the divine Hole. Every Mini'Oh mines on its own, but the gear you put on it determines how fast you clear blocks, collect loot, and push deeper. There is no single perfect build, but understanding the slots and upgrading your power early will get you much further.
"Dive inside and launch your Mini'Ohs to mine for you."
- Head,Back,Tool,Mask, and Hair equipment slots change how a Mini'Oh behaves in the Hole. The game tracks your first drop for each of these as separate milestones.
- Costumes are activated separately and do not count toward regular equipment slots, so they are a free layer of customization once unlocked.
- Upgrades are the core of any build. Your first upgrade triggers the Kachin! achievement, and every upgrade after that feeds into throwing power and mining speed.
Because you rescue 8 Mini'Ohs over time and eventually all of them, your build changes from one strong miner to a full team. Early on, focus on making a single Mini'Oh self-sufficient. Later, spread gear across the team so each one covers a different job in the Hole.
Do not sell or discard an equipment piece just because it is low level. A full set of decent gear on one Mini'Oh usually beats a single strong item on an unarmed one, especially when the Prad'Ah equip-all-slots milestone is in reach.
Early-game builds
Your first hours are about rescuing your first Mini'Oh, grabbing loot, and getting basic gear. The achievements point to the order:Hi, my name is... for the first rescue,Looting Time! for the first loot box, and Safety comes first for the first Head equipment.
For an early-game build, prioritize a throwing-focused setup. Throws are your main way to interact with blocks and enemies, and the numbers add up fast:88 throws unlock Lance,777 unlock Neil, and 1666 unlock Louis. A Mini'Oh built around throwing will hit those milestones while also clearing space for loot.
- Head gear first. It is the first equipment type the game tracks, and it tends to give the earliest defensive or utility boost.
- Back and Tool gear second. Backpacks and Tools round out the build once Head is covered, unlocking the Cool backpacks and Break & Fidget achievements.
- Break blocks deliberately. Destroy 100 blocks for Groundbreaker and 2000 for Stonecrusher. Every block destroyed also feeds your upgrade resources.
- Use items from the start. The Dispenser machine achievement unlocks at 5 item uses, so get in the habit of activating items as soon as they are useful.
You should not obsess over a perfect early build. The game gives you a new milestone every few minutes, and each one unlocks something that changes your priorities. Keep every Mini'Oh equipped, keep throwing, and keep looting.
Mid-game options
Once you have rescued the right NPCs, the build options expand considerably. The Butcher unlocks the Forge, the Sailor unlocks the Sea Shop, and the Builder unlocks the Mushroom Shop. Each shop offers gear that supports a different approach, so this is where builds start to diverge.
- Forge builds focus on gear upgrades and crafting. This is the natural next step after you finish your first set of Head, Back, and Tool equipment.
- Sea Shop builds lean on items and consumables. The milestones at 66 item uses for Supermarket and 222 for Shopping Mall show that item-heavy play is a real strategy.
- Mushroom Shop builds support cloning and team growth. Cloning 333 times unlocks Episode II, and more clones means more Mini'Ohs working the Hole at once.
Mid-game is also when you should start mixing roles. Assign your Mini'Ohs different jobs based on the gear you collect: one for raw block breaking, one for fast looting, and one for sustained throwing. The You look wonderful! and Prad'Ah achievements reward you for activating a Costume and equipping all slots of one Mini'Oh, so aim to complete at least one full set.
When you reach the Sea Shop, test items before committing to a build. Some items work far better when paired with high throw counts, while others shine on a Mini'Oh with strong gear slots. Let the milestones guide you: if you are close to 66 or 222 item uses, keep using.
Tips
These tips apply to any build and will keep your progression smooth from the first dive to the deepest caves.
- Upgrade early and often. The Kachin! achievement tracks your first upgrade, but the real value is that every upgrade multiplies the effectiveness of the gear you already have.
- Rescue every Mini'Oh you find. You need 8 Mini'Ohs for The more the merrier and all of them for Now this is a Team. More Mini'Ohs mean more mining per second, which is the strongest build bonus in the game.
- Complete caves in order. The four cave milestones, Deep, Deeper, Deepest, and Hyper Deepest, are gated progression. Build around the cave you are stuck on rather than the one you have already cleared.
- Collect worms constantly. Worm milestones hit at 100,10,000, and 250,000. Worms are a steady resource that keeps your shops stocked.
- Equip all slot types eventually. The Full closet achievement requires every type of equipment, so do not leave Hair or Mask slots empty once those items start dropping.
- Take advantage of Save Anytime. The game supports saving anywhere, so you can experiment with a risky build and reload if it does not work out.
Hole Is Mine is a single-player, at-your-own-pace game, so there is no pressure to copy a specific meta build. The best build is the one that keeps you moving toward the next milestone: rescue, upgrade, equip, and dive again.
